Central Islip is turning into a wonderful town. In recent years Central Islip has acquired so many additions. Now, within these past two months of the summer of 2008, there is a media circus in the family court building. This circus is due to the custody battle of former Model Christie Brinkley and her former husband. You can see the court building on all news channels all over the country.
Central Islip has a Minor League Baseball Team that represents Long Island, NY called the Long Island Ducks. The stadium is beautiful. Right next door, basically in the same parking lot is the Cohallan Court Complex, that includes Criminal court , Civil court and Family Court. Next to that is the Federal Court building. Many big trials happen right here in this town, Central Islip.
With the Ducks playing and so many big trials going on in Central Islip, you would think that the town would be kept beautiful and clean.
The Central Islip Little League Field is directly across the street from the Ducks Stadium and the Court Complex. It is one of the most unkept fields in Long Island.
Next to the fields is a shopping center, home to Target, Payless, Dollar Tree, Starbucks, Home Depot, Subway, Dots and T-Mobile. The shopping Center is kept in good shape. Across the street from this shopping center and the fields and next to the Ducks is also- NYIT College and all the housing. Tauro College has also recently come over there along with The Culinary Arts College.
Drive one or two lights North and find the neighborhood infested with drugs and homelessness, shops that have been there for so long, they look as if they will fall apart.
Back to the Little league field for a minute~~ When the children play in the tournament, they get to travel and are amazed by the wonderful fields in the other towns. Why are the Central Islip Fields such a mess? Driving through dirt and gravel to get there, old splinter filled bleachers, no clubhouse like the other towns, bumpy yellow grass fields. Maybe Christie Brinkley dosen't look over on her way to the courts, but someone has got to notice this.
With all the revenue Central Islip has gotten in the past years, why not fix up the areas that need to be fixed up? Why not fix up the strip just North of the Courts, and the Little League fields especially?
With the taxes so high in Central Islip, another issue is the teachers in the School District getting paid the most in Suffolk County while the School District is one of the worst Academically in Suffolk County. Cleaning up the gangs and upping the percentage of passing students should be Top Priority in this town.
